Robert Lešnik prihaja iz Limbuša, v mladih letih se je trikrat poskusil vpisati na Akademijo za likovno umetnost in oblikovanje v Ljubljani, vendar so ga vsakič zavrnili, zato je svojo srečo četrtič poskusil še v Pforzheimu v Nemčiji na visoki tehnični šoli in tokrat uspel.
